Welcome! You’ve just landed on the one piece of digital real estate dedicated entirely to covering and coordinating the ongoing battle for a $15 minimum wage at McGill University.
What typically filters onto the web from an intense campaign of this sort is a litany of well-written but formulaic press releases, and undistinguished photographs of the protest du jour.
This blog will be nothing of the sort. Instead we will be sharing a broad array of stories with you about the inner clockwork of this project. We will be talking about the people whose labour keeps our academy alive, those who strive to create a unifying centripetal force of solidarity, and the economics that make it all go.
In short, we will be peeling back the layers of the onion that is working for McGill University in Montreal.
Our Prime Directive: To support in any and all ways imaginable the achievement of a $15 minimum wage at McGill University, as well as the creation of new benchmarks for fairness at the workplace.
We invite you to come back to this webspace for new stories on a weekly basis. Visit us while you are having your morning coffee, while you’re taking a study break, or riding on the metro.
Most importantly, draw strength from the movement to take on whatever small action you feel is within your reach for $15 and Fairness at McGill University.
This blog is a new initiative of the 15 and Fair McGill Coalition. Curated by MM and MB. This piece written by MB.
